At the beginning of every summer, I think about all of the things I want to do before school starts again. This year, we decided to make an effort to attend more events in the city, so we made plans to go to the Three Rivers Regatta at Point State Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The Regatta is an annual, three-day festival in the city that celebrates and promotes recreational use of the water. It’s a great event to attend with family and friends because there are free concerts, food vendors, various water sports, and a fireworks display. The guys found a great spot to watch the boat race! Something about his smile just gets me every time!
There were so many boats in the river and it was fun to see all of the people relaxing and enjoying the day as we walked along the waterfront. My son saw all of the people with their feet in the fountain water, so he asked if we could do the same. It was a hot, sunny day, and I felt like a little girl again, splashing my feet in the cold water. That was definitely my favorite part of the day. Without him being there, I probably would not have thought about doing it. Kids always have a way of bringing out your inner child!
We had such a fun time walking around and listening to music from local bands. On our way out of the park, we stopped to get fresh squeezed lemonade. There is nothing better to drink on a beautiful, summer day. Yum!!! I absolutely cherish days like this because we got exercise, supported our community, and made memories together as a family.
We’re from Pittsburgh and we look forward to the Regatta every year! Great pictures 🙂
